Der Autor (1953) ist Philosoph und Psychiater. Er hat sein Leben lang versucht, in Selbstunterweisung Grundfragen zu beantworten und darüber in zahlreichen Publikationen Rechenschaft abgegeben. Die beiden Universitätslehrgänge der Medizin und der Philosophie, die er absolviert hat, waren dabei weit weniger hilfreich als die Begegnung mit dem Geist derer, denen er in der schmal genug geöffneten Tür zum Tempelinneren ihrer Werke begegnen durfte.

The author (b. 1953) is a philosopher and psychiatrist. Throughout his life, he has sought to answer fundamental questions through self-instruction and has accounted for his findings in numerous publications. The two university curricula - in medicine and philosophy - proved far less helpful in this endeavor than his encounter with the spirit of those whom he was privileged to meet through the narrow opening of the door to the inner sanctum of their works.
