Takemiya Masaki's 'Cosmic Go' is undoubtedly the best go book I have ever read. I constantly come back to this book, and with each reading I become more convinced of the need to make it available in other languages than Japanese. Indeed, this book gives me a joy I would like to share with as many go players as possible. I am sure it will help you discover not only a new approach to the game, but also a new universe of go: one of philosophy and poetry.
Takemiya Masaki was a disciple of Kitani Minoru 9-dan and became professional 1961. He was known as one of Kitani's 'three musketeers' (the other two were Ishida Yoshio and Kato Masao).
He took several times the Honinbo title. He has also won two international Fujitsu tournaments, along with the Judan and many other titles.
At present he is renowned throughout the world of go as the uncontested master of the sanrensei. His 'cosmic style', which seeks out the realm of dreams on the goban and emphasises intuition, is highly popular among all go players.
