René Burkhard was born on February 13, 1958, in the Zurich lowlands. He spent many years living in the city of Zurich before settling in the Zurich lowlands, where he has lived for the past 25 years. His childhood in a rural environment shaped his sensitivity for quiet moments and human stories. For more than 25 years, he worked as a vocational school teacher and witnessed firsthand how the education system changed and how strongly young people struggled under new demands. These experiences inspired his first book.
His writing includes sensitive novels about closeness and personal choices, family stories about bonds across generations, and suspenseful thrillers. He also explores a poetic side in his more lyrical works.
