Queer Symmetries is a space to slow down, get creative, and explore what queerness can look and feel like - on the outside and the inside.
Inside you'll find 29 hand-drawn illustrations on high quality paper inspired by real conversations and lived experiences - touching on themes like gender euphoria and dysphoria, body image beyond the binary, and the quiet (or loud) stuff that goes on inside us. Symmetry plays a big role here - used to flip expectations and open up new ways of seeing. Whether you're queer yourself and want to feel seen on the page, or you're a curious ally looking for a fresh perspective, this book offers space to reflect, color outside the lines, and connect with queerness in a calm, thoughtful way.
Stefanie Ettling is an organizational development consultant and illustrator, someone who sees images as invitations: to look closer, reflect, and start conversations. After spending more than ten years living and working in Central Asia and the Caucasus, she now moves between Albania and Germany, bringing a rich mix of perspectives into everything she creates.
Drawing has been part of her life since childhood. For Stefanie, it has always been more than art; it is a way of making sense of the world and connecting with others. This approach also shapes her work in organizational development, where she uses visual methods to open spaces for reflection, dialogue, and meaningful change.
As a queer person in a polyamorous relationship, she weaves her own experiences and conversations with friends into her artistic practice. Under the name Cats and Wolf, she collaborates with her sister Ramona to explore themes of identity, the body, and transformation, using creative methods to make complex internal worlds visible and relatable.
With Queer Symmetries, their first coloring book centered on queer experiences, Cats and Wolf creates a space for representation, calm, and creative expression. Queer readers can feel seen, while curious allies are invited to discover new perspectives and engage with queerness in an open, thoughtful way.
