Signed My Arm, Shook My Soul is an autobiographical art book about resonance, creative transformation, and the quiet influence of a muse. When the voice and presence of musician Brandi Carlile unexpectedly enters Michelle Hediger's life, it sparks a profound inner shift - a return to creativity, to truth, and ultimately to herself. Told through poetic chapters, intimate reflections, and visual "whispers", Hediger traces the years of longing, collapse, healing, and renewed artistic purpose that followed. Without demanding closeness, and without any exchange between muse and artist, a deep resonance began to shape her inner world - opening doors that had long remained closed and reawakening a creative voice she thought she had lost. Blending autobiographical narrative with artwork, drawings, and painterly series such as Silent Stage Moments and Brandi in Between, this book reveals the subtle spaces where inspiration begins: in gestures, in stillness, in dreams, in the in-between. Hediger explores the fine line between admiration and artistic ignition, between distance and inner connection, between outer silence and creative overflow. Signed My Arm is not a fan book and not a biography. It is a story about what happens when an artist encounters a muse who never asked for the role, and yet unknowingly becomes the spark that transforms a life. It is a book about emotional truth, artistic awakening, and the courage to stay soft enough to feel. For readers drawn to artist books, creative memoirs, and stories of inner transformation, this work offers a quiet, honest, and deeply felt portrait of how inspiration can shape a life from afar, and how returning to oneself can be the greatest creative act of all.
Michelle Hediger (b. 1981) is a Swiss visual artist, scenographer, and teacher whose work explores emotional resonance, quiet transitions, and the subtle moments where inner and outer worlds meet. Trained as a carpenter and scenographer, she brings a precise yet intuitive approach to drawing, painting, and mixed media, combining craftsmanship with a strong sense of atmosphere and sensitivity. Her artistic focus lies in capturing the in-between: the unspoken, the fleeting, the gestures and silences that reveal more than words. Through her works on paper, mixed media pieces, and thematic series such as "Silent Stage Moments" and "Brandi in Between", she creates visual narratives rooted in honesty, depth, and emotional clarity. Hediger's art often reflects personal transformation, self-discovery, and the complex ways inspiration can shape creative identity. In addition to her visual practice, she writes about the intersections between creativity, resonance, and the inner life of an artist. Signed My Arm, her first artist book, blends autobiographical storytelling with artwork and poetic reflections, documenting a deeply personal journey back to her own voice and artistic purpose. Michelle lives and works in Switzerland, where she continues to develop a body of work centred on presence, empathy, and the subtle gestures that define human experience.
